SmileBack Fund Contribution
Giving Back Is Part of SmileBack
SmileBack began with a simple belief: quality dental care should be more accessible to people who genuinely need it.
The idea of giving back has always been part of SmileBack. As our practice and other SmileBack-related projects grow, our goal is to dedicate a portion of what we earn toward helping provide dental care for individuals in underserved communities.
That fund is still growing. In the meantime, the mission has already been happening inside our practice.
Over the past year, Dr. Darwin Naranja has helped patients facing financial hardship by providing dental treatment at economical and reasonable fees. For selected patients with genuine need, Dr. Naranja has contributed his own professional time so that treatment can become more attainable.
There are still real costs involved in providing dental care. Our staff must be paid. Dental materials, supplies, laboratory services, equipment, and other expenses must be covered.
Dr. Naranja's contribution is his professional time.
Now we want to make this commitment a permanent part of our practice—and give our patients, friends, and community an opportunity to participate.
How SmileBack Donation Works
Community contributions to SmileBack help support the actual costs of providing dental procedures for qualified individuals who may otherwise have difficulty obtaining the care they need.
When you make a contribution, you may nominate someone you believe could benefit from the SmileBack program.
Your nominee will then go through our qualification and clinical review process. A donation does not automatically qualify the person you nominate.
If you don't have anyone to nominate, that's okay. Your contribution will remain in the SmileBack Fund and will be used to help an eligible candidate selected through the program.
If your nominee does not qualify, your contribution will also remain in the SmileBack Fund to help another qualified recipient.
You contribute to the care.
I contribute my time.
Together, we give someone their SmileBack.
Who May Qualify?
SmileBack is intended for people with a genuine dental need who face financial hardship or limited access to necessary dental treatment.
Candidates may include individuals experiencing circumstances such as low or limited household income, lack of adequate dental insurance, unemployment or financial hardship, seniors living on limited or fixed incomes, veterans experiencing difficulty accessing dental care, or individuals and families facing other circumstances that make necessary dental treatment financially difficult to obtain.
Having dental insurance does not automatically disqualify someone. Some individuals may be insured but still have inadequate coverage for the treatment they genuinely need.
Financial & Access-to-Care Qualification
Because SmileBack resources are limited, we have a responsibility to our donors and our community to make reasonable efforts to ensure that assistance reaches people with genuine need.
Candidates may therefore be asked to provide information or reasonable documentation regarding their financial circumstances, household size, employment, insurance coverage, assistance programs, or other circumstances relevant to their application.
Providing intentionally inaccurate, misleading, or incomplete information may result in disqualification from the program.
Clinical Qualification
Financial need alone does not guarantee acceptance.
Every candidate must undergo a dental and medical evaluation by our clinical team. The proposed treatment must be appropriate for the patient's condition, reasonably predictable, and within the procedures and resources available through SmileBack.
Candidates must also be willing to participate in their own care by attending appointments, following treatment and post-operative instructions, maintaining appropriate oral hygiene, and completing necessary follow-up care.
Every application is considered individually.
Meeting the general criteria does not guarantee acceptance or treatment. Assistance is based on financial need, clinical suitability, available SmileBack funds, available resources, and the circumstances of each candidate.
Give Someone a Reason to SmileBack
Your contribution helps us provide dental care to qualified individuals who might otherwise be unable to receive the treatment they need.
After contributing, you will have the option to nominate a candidate for SmileBack consideration.
If you choose not to nominate someone, your contribution will be used for another qualified SmileBack recipient.
💜 DONATE & GIVE A SMILE
Contributions to SmileBack are voluntary and are not tax-deductible charitable donations. A contribution is made to support the SmileBack program and is not payment for treatment for a particular individual. Making a contribution provides the donor with an opportunity to nominate a candidate but does not guarantee that the nominee will qualify or receive treatment. SmileBack determines eligibility and treatment based on its qualification criteria, clinical evaluation, available funds, and available program resources.
